On April 28, the 229 meter long bulk freighter Yasa H. Mulla allided with a pier at Port Said, Egypt.  The freighter was entering the Suez when it’s starboard bow struck causing hull damage.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The Yasa H. Mulla proceeded to a nearby shipyard for repairs.

Yong Tong

Yong Tong

The 225 meter long, 74382 dwt bulk freighter Yong Tong became disabled near Isla de Tarifa and Gibraltar.  The Yong Tong had suffered engine failure and gone adrift.   The crew requested assistance with a salvage tug responding.  The tug was able to take the bulk freighter under tow and proceeded to Algeciras.   The Yong Tong was en route to New Orleans from Gibraltar in ballast.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Yow Hsu Man

Yow Hsu Man

The 54 foot long fishing vessel Yow Hsu Man was reported missing near Guam. The Yow Hsu Man was en route towards Guam after its captain had suffered medical complications.  Weather reports state the vessel was battling a severe gale with 18 foot seas and 20 knot winds.  Authorities had monitored the Yow Hsu Man for two days before communication was lost.   A Coast Guard cutter along with a nearby tanker have diverted towards the last known position of the fishing vessel.   A Navy helicopter was also dispatched to aid in the search efforts.
