Typhoon Megi claims two vessels
The Panama registered cement carrier Xin Yi became disabled off the coast of Hsinchu, Taiwan, on route from China to Brunei. Reports have 18 members of the crew rescued by a nearby cruise ship, 1 body found and 3 crewmen missing.
The Panama registered freighter Dili Star sank off the coast near Kaohsiung in the Taiwan Strait. The 12 crewmen abandoned the ship by lifeboat and were later picked up by an Air Force helicopter. No serious injuries were reported.
