The 170 meter long, 33609 dwt tanker Argent Cosmos ran aground on the Columbia River near Skamokawa, Washington. The Argent Cosmos was headed to China from Clatskanie, Oregon with a cargo of 1.6 million gallons of ethanol and 6.6 million gallons of monoethylene glycol when it suffered a mechanical malfunction.

Two tugs were dispatched to assist refloating the tanker on the rising tide. The Coast Guard dispatched a helicopter to conduct an over flight. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. Reports state the Argent Cosmos was refloated and proceeded to Longview for inspection.

On June 28, the 77 meter long, 2091  dwt tanker Freyja ran aground at Svartskjæret off Florø, Norway. The Freyja was proceeding in ballast when it ran aground near where the vessel Ingvild had run aground the day before. Tugs were dispatched and pulled the Freyja free the following day.  No reports of injuries to the 11 crew, damage or pollution released. The Freyja proceeded to Florø for inspection.

The 179 meter long, 30195 dwt bulk carrier Mallika Naree ran aground on the Elizabeth River off Norfolk, Virginia.  The bulk carrier was entering port when suffered a power blackout and veered out of the channel and struck a buoy. Multiple tugs were dispatched and pulled the Mallika Naree free a few hours later. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The Coast Guard dispatched a helicopter to monitor the situation. The Mallika Naree had arrived from France with a cargo of steel and cement.
