The 169 meter long container ship Flottbek ran aground on the Kiel Canal near Oldenbüttel, Germany.  The Flottbek was en route to Rotterdam from Gdynia when it suffered engine failure and ran onto an embankment.  A tug was dispatched to the scene and was able to aid the Flottbek to refloat itself.  The Flottbek was able to continue on its voyage under its own power.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The  146 meter long, 10385 dwt freighter BBC Chile went aground on the St. Lawrence River near the entrance to the South Shore Canal near Montreal, Quebec.  The freighter had gone outside the channel as the vessel was entering Lake St. Louis.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The  BBC Chile was refloated the following night with the aid of a few tugs and resume its upbound voyage.  Reports state traffic was halted for several hours as the vessel partially blocked the channel.

The 21 meter long fishing vessel Sjohav ran aground near Valsøya, Norway. The crew sent out a distress call requesting assistance after the vessel was hard aground on a reef.  A Sea King helicopter was dispatched to the scene with dewatering pumps, but the vessel did not require any additional pumps.  The Sjohav had suffered a hole in the hull, but was in no risk of sinking.   The Sjohav was refloated a short time later with the aid of nearby vessels.  The Sjohav was taken under tow to Tranøya.  No reports of injuries to the 5 crew on board.
