The 150 foot long, 275 gt ro-ro ferry Frisco went aground in rough seas in Hatteras inlet near Hatteras Island.   The ferry remain aground for several hours before it was able to be refloated.   No reports of injuries to the 35 passengers and six crew on board.   The Coast Guard was  notified of the incident and provided assistance while the Frisco was aground.  Conditions worsen suspending all ferry service in the area later the same day.  No reports of damage or pollution released.

The 44 meter long, 1000 dwt ro-ro ferry Kragero went aground near Schweigaardsholmen, Norway.   The ferry was proceeding in poor visibility with 11 passengers when it struck bottom.   The Kragero suffered some hull damage and controlled water ingress.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The Kragero proceeded under its own power to Jomfruland where it safely unloaded its passengers.  The vessel returned back to the port of Kragerø where it will be inspected.  No further details reported.

The 65 foot long fishing vessel Five J’s went aground off Brenton Point near Newport, Rhode Island.  The vessel had lost power and had gone adrift.  The crew attempted to drop anchor, but the anchor was unable to hold.  No reports of injuries.   The Five J’s had some quantity of diesel fuel on board at the time of the grounding.  Authorities have teams assessing the situation and condition of the vessel as salvage operations begins. The Coast Guard is conducting an investigation into the incident.
