Kyeema Spirit

The 249 meter long, 113357 dwt tanker Kyeema Spirit went aground on Aegna Island near Tallinn, Estonia.  The tanker suffered damage including a hole in a bilge tank.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The Kyeema Spirit was headed to Tallinn in ballast.   Three tugs were dispatched to the scene and pulled the tanker free.   A pollution prevention vessel was also on scene monitoring the situation.   Reports state the port authorities warned the tanker several times before it ran aground.  Officials have launched an investigation into the incident.

Roxy Lady

Roxy Lady

The 31 meter long fishing vessel S 250 Roxy Lady went aground near the Skagen West Lighthouse, Denmark.  The trawler had run ashore in bad weather, but did not sustain any damage. The Skagen Rescue Station dispatched a lifeboat to the scene and rescued the three crew on board the trawler.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.   Attempts to refloat the Roxy Lady will be done on the next high tide.

Huelin Dispatch

The new 90 meter long, 2500 tonne container vessel Huelin Dispatch went aground  near Alderney, England.  The Huelin Dispatch was on its maiden voyage with containers from Southampton to the Channel Islands when it grounded onto the rock pinnacle Pierre au Vraic.  The vessel contacted the RNLI lifeboat from Alderney which inspected the vessel spotting damage to the Huelin Dispatch’s stern.   The crew also reported that there was some water ingress, but was able controlled by temporary repairs.  No reports of injuries to the eight crew on board.   The container vessel refloated on the rising tide and  proceeded to Falmouth to drydock.
