The South River was departing from St. Petersburg with a cargo of scrap metal when it ran aground. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released. The South River was last reported to have attempted to refloat itself under its own power.
The 100 meter long, 4766 dwt container ship Paranga ran aground near English Caye Channel, Belize. The Paranga was en route to Kingston, Jaimaica from Belize when the crew made a navigational error and struck a reef. The container ship suffered minimal damage. No reports of injuries to the 13 crew on board and no pollution was spotted. The crew contacted the Coast Guard who dispatched a response team to the scene.
