Ponce Inlet Grounding

The tug Arabella and an 100 foot long barge went aground near a jetty in Ponce Inlet, Florida.   The tug and barge were approaching near the jetty when the tug lost power allowing the vessels to run aground onto the rocks.  The crew of the Arabella contacted the Coast Guard who dispatched to rescue boats to the scene.   The rescue boats pulled both the Arabella and the barge free.   No injuries and no pollution released.

River Don Collision

 

 

The 132 meter long, 5172 dwt freighter Comanche collided with the 114 meter long, 3134 dwt freighter Cerencan on the Don River near the 3147 kilometer mark.   The two vessels were passing port-to-port when the vessels collided.   Both freighters suffered hull dents to the bow section.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.

Volgoneft 121

Volgoneft 121

The 132 meter long, 4640 dwt tanker Volgoneft 121 went aground on Nizhnyaya Sheksna River  near the 545 kilometer mark.  The Vologneft 121 was attempting to drop anchor in the fog when it struck bottom.   The tanker suffered damage to its hull with its ballast tanks breached suffering water ingress.  No reports of injuires or pollution released.   The Volgoneft was en route to St. Petersburg, Russia from Yaroslavl with 4267 tons of gasoline.
