On August 28, the Philippine-registered MV Beaumont ran aground off Richards Bay, South Africa. The bulk carrier had finished loading at the coal terminal and was being assisted out to sea.  As the vessel reached the main channel, it was pushed onto a sandbank by the incoming tide.  Three tugs came to the aid of the MV Beaumont and were able to pull her free 30-minutes later. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Authorities had the MV Beaumont inspected for damage. An investigation was launched into the cause of the incident. Reports state the vessel may had suffered a malfunction before it had run aground.

The 187 meter long, 46807 dwt bulk carrier Jian Qiang ran aground in the Gulf of Mexico off Beaumont, Texas. The Jian Qiang was loaded with sulfur when it ran hard aground while outbound into the gulf.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The Coast Guard and local authorities are monitoring the situation as plans to free the bulk carrier are being developed. The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.

The 3820 dwt freighter Beaumont went aground in the Bay of Biscay near Aviles, Spain.  The Beaumont was approaching the port when it went aground onto the rocks.   No reports of injuries to the six crew on board or pollution released.  The vessel suffered some damage to a ballast tank.  The crew contacted authorities who dispatched a tug to assist in refloating the vessel.  The tug  was successful with the Beaumont being refloated later the same day during high tide.   The Beaumont was towed into Aviles where it docked for repairs.   The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
