Eren Turgut

The 92 meter long, 4763 dwt freighter Eren Turgut became disabled on the Danube River near Tulcea, Romania.  The Eren Turgut had suffered engine failure and could not proceed without repairs.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being reported.   The vessel was en route to Iskenderun, Turkey from Galaţi, Romania.

Kelheim

The 110 meter long self-propelled car tranport vessel Kelheim became disabled on the Danube River near Vienna, Austria.  The Kelheim had suffered an engine failure while proceeding upstream and had to drop anchor to avoid going adrift.   The Kelheim, with 100 small cars on board, blocked traffic on the river until another vessel later pulled the Kelheim into the harbour at Racklau.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Vessel Sinks on Danube

A vessel sank near the left bank of the Danube near Eckartsau, Austria.   The vessel being pushed by a dredger was heading upstream when it swung perpendicular to the flow of the river and sank.   No one was injured, but river traffic has been closed near the wreck.
