The 85 meter long self-propelled barge Karin ran aground on the Danube near Deggendorf, Germany. The current pulled the Karin until it was perpendicular to the river blocking traffic.  The barge was later refloated with the rising water level.  No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Karin proceeded to Deggendorf where the vessel was to be inspected. The Karin was en route to Bulgaria from Amsterdam with 560 tons of fertilizer.

Rubiships VIII

The 86 meter long self-propelled barge Rubiships VIII became disabled on the Danube near Deggendorf, Germany.  The Rubiships VIII was en route to Deggendorf from Straubing when the vessel’s rudder broke.  The crew was able to make an emergency anchoring.   The Rubiships VIII was taken under tow to Deggendorf and will be later towed to Linz for repairs.

SAGA

The 86 meter long self-propelled barge Saga went aground on the Danube River near Deggendorf, Germany.  The Saga was driven onto a gravel bar when the master made a navigational error and steered the vessel out of the fairway.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.  The Saga grounded caused traffic on the Danube to be halted until it can be refloated.  A tow boat was requested and reports state the vessel will be refloated the next day.  The Saga was en route to Straubing from Passau with 920 tons of corn.
