The 85 meter long self-propelled barge Karin ran aground on the Danube near Deggendorf, Germany. The current pulled the Karin until it was perpendicular to the river blocking traffic. The barge was later refloated with the rising water level. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Karin proceeded to Deggendorf where the vessel was to be inspected. The Karin was en route to Bulgaria from Amsterdam with 560 tons of fertilizer.
