The 67 meter long self-propelled barge Nelly V ran aground on the IJssel near De Steeg, Netherlands. The Nelly V, loaded with a cargo of gravel, had grounded into a shallows after it had veered too far to allow another vessel to pass. Initial attempts to refloat the Nelly V failed.  These attempts caused the barge to block part of the fairway.  A dredger was requested and lightered part of the cargo before a tug was finally able to pull the Nelly V free.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
