The 42 meter long passenger ferry Adler Express allided with a quay at Wittdün, Germany.  The ferry had departed from Strucklahnungshörn upon Nordstrand and was making a routine stop when it suffered engine failure.   The Adler Express was unable to reverse its engines in time before the ferry struck the quay at a speed of 8 knots.  Many passengers were thrown off the feet. Reports state 27 passengers were injured with 6 listed as severely injured.  Most of the passengers were standing on deck waiting to disembark when the vessel struck the quay.  Multiple authorities dispatched vessels, helicopters and ambulances to the scene.  Those severely injured were flown to hospitals on the mainland.  The ferry suffered significant bow damage which has been estimated to be over 20.000 € .  Officials have launched an investigation into the incident.

The small passenger and cycle chain-ferry, called locally as a Floating Bridge, ran aground while operating between East and West Cowes on the Isle of Wight.  The chain-ferry was delayed docking while the tide was going out.  The chain-ferry  was left high and dry.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.  Reports state the delay was due to a towed bus becoming stuck and blocked the carriageway.

The 143 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Prevelis ran aground off an islet near Santorin, Greece.  The Prevelis, loaded with 190 passengers from Piraeus, struck the islet Aspronisi while attempting to enter the port at Santorin. Divers inspected the hull and found no damage.  The Prevelis proceeded under its own power to Santorin.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.  Initial reports state the vessel may have lost power before it went aground.
