Wilson Newport

The 123 meter long, 8321 dwt freighter Wilson Newport went aground in Adriatic Sea near Gios Georgios, Greece.  The vessel struck the island and was hard aground, but no reports of water ingress or pollution released.   No injuries to the 10 crew on board.  Authorities have dispatched an anti-pollution vesel to the scene.   A tug was also standing by in the area.  The freighter was en route to Antwerp from Gemlik, Turkey.

Eva

The wooden sailing vessel Eva suffered an explosion near Mandraki, Kos Island, Greece.  The Eva was entering the harbour from a cruise with 28 passengers when a mock cannon on board exploded.  The explosion killed the captain and injured six passengers who were later taken to hospital.  No further details reported.

Efstratios

The 88 meter long, 2954 dwt freighter Efstratios went aground in the Aegean Sea near Agia Marina, Greece.   The vessel suffered no hull breaches and no reports of water ingress.  Attempts to refloat itself failed as the Efstratios was hard aground requiring the assistance of a salvage tug.  No injuries or pollution released.   The Efstratios was en route to an unreported Greek port with a cargo of sunflower.
