Jaguar

The 190 meter long, 14643 dwt container ship Jaguar became disabled near Thessaloniki, Greece.   The Jaguar had left Thessaloniki when it suffered engine failure.   The vessel returned to Thessaloniki where it made repairs and inspected by authorities.   The Jaguar departed the next day and continued on its voyage to Piraeus.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

City of Mumbai

The 157 meter long, 7894 dwt vehicle carrier City of Mumbai became disabled whiel off Kea Island near Piraeus, Greece.  The vessel had suffered engine failure and had contacted authorities.   The authorities had planned to send a tug to assist the vessel, but the crew was able to make repairs and restore power.   The City of Mumbai proceeded to an anchorage near Lavrion where authorities where the vessel was inspected.  The vehicle carrier has allowed to proceed on its voyage later the same day.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Flying Dolphin XIX

The 36 meter long high-speed ferry Flying Dolphin19 ran around near the port of Aegina, Greece between the islands of Aegina and Angistri.   The hydrofoil ferry left Piraeus with 59 passengers and six crew heading for Aegina when it ran into shallow water. The crew sent out a distress call to the Greek Coast Guard.  The Coast Guard dispatched several rescue vessels along with tugs and another ferry to the scene.  The passengers on the Flying Dolphin were safely transferred off to another ferry.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.   The crew remained on board to coordinate salvage operations.   An early survey of the vessel showed no water ingress.  The cause of the grounding had not yet been reported.
