On May 31, the 113 meter long, 8870 dwt container ship Mary Arctica struck an iceberg off Nanortalik, Greenland. The Mary Arctica was headed to Aalborg when around 2 A.M. it struck the iceberg. The vessel sustained significant damage, but the details were limited. The Mary Arctica did not suffer water ingress, but changed course and proceeded to Qaqortoq to be surveyed. Afterwards, the vessel to expected to be able to proceed to Denmark where it will be taken out of service for 2 to 3 weeks to complete repairs. No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The Arina Arctica will replace the Mary Arctica to continue service between Denmark and Greenland.

On January 21, the 220 foot long fishing vessel Saputi sustained hull damage while fishing for turbot in the Davis Strait between Canada and Greenland. The trawler had struck ice which cut into the hull causing water ingress. The crew requested assistance with both Danish and Canadian authorities responding.  A Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker and an fixed aircraft was dispatched while the Danish Navy directed a vessel to the area. The aircraft arrived first on the following day and was able to drop four dewatering pumps to the Saputi.  The Danish warship arrived on scene a short time later delivering additional pumps and technicians.  The Saputi proceeded towards Nuuk, Greenland escorted by the Danish warship Knud Rasmussen.  No reports of injuries to the 30 crew on board. Reports stated that the catch of turbot on board the Saputi may have been lost resulting in an estimated loss of $1 million dollars (CA).

The 72 meter long patrol boat Ejnar Mikkelsen went aground in the Julianehåb Fjord off Greenland.   The patrol boat had struck an uncharted reef after sailing around an iceberg.   The Ejnar Mikkelsen suffered significant hull damage requiring the vessel to be repaired in a shipyard.   No further details reported.
