The 72 meter long patrol boat Ejnar Mikkelsen went aground in the Julianehåb Fjord off Greenland.   The patrol boat had struck an uncharted reef after sailing around an iceberg.   The Ejnar Mikkelsen suffered significant hull damage requiring the vessel to be repaired in a shipyard.   No further details reported.

Sarfaq Ittuk

The 70 meter long, 163 dwt passenger ship Sarfaq Ittuk went aground in the harbour at Qarqurtoq, Greenland.  The vessel was attempting to leave the harbour when it was pushed off course by strong winds.  There were no injuries to the 86 passengers or 21 crew on board.   The Sarfaq Ittuk was able to refloat itself  the next day and proceeded back to its berth at Qarqurtoq.  Divers inspected the hull and found some minor damage.   The vessel proceeded to Nuuk where it would be repaired.  No reports of any pollution being released.

Vega Sagittarius

Vega Sagittarius

The 139 meter long, 11811 dwt container ship Vega Sagittarius went aground near Nuuk, Greenland.   The Vega Sagittarius suffered hull damage above the waterline.   No injuries to the 17 crew on board and no pollution released.   Initial attempts to refloat the vessel on the high tide failed.  The Vega Sagittarius remains hard aground on the the rocky bottom.   The vessel was en route to Aasiaat from Nuuk.
