KENNICOTT

On January 14, the 116 meter long, 1695 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Kennicott allided with the 85 meter long, 450 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Hubbard in Ketchikan, Alaska. The Kennicott struck the Hubbard while attempting to berth. The Kennicott sustained a damaged sponson and window while the Hubbard had only minimal damage. No reports of injuries or pollution released. Authorities were alerted of the incident and an investigation was launched.

The 65 foot long fishing vessel Vernon suffer water ingress while off Ketchikan, Alaska. The crew contacted the Coast Guard the vessel was taking on water in the engine room.  The 47-foot motor life boat along with the 25-foot response boat were dispatched to the scene.  Once on scene, the Coast Guard crew began operating dewatering pumps and brought the flooding under control.  The rescue boats escorted the Vernon back to Ketchikan.  No reports of injuries.  The cause of the flooding was under investigation.

Pacific Queen + Coral Sea

Pacific Queen + Coral Sea

The 22 meter long fishing vessel Pacific Queen struck bottom and went aground near Petersburg, Alaska.  The Pacific Queen suffered water ingress and the crew requested assistance.  The crew of three abandoned ship and were rescued by the near by fishing vessel Windham Bay just as a Coast Guard helicopter arrived.   No reports of injuries.

The fishing vessel Coral Sea went aground off Gourd Island near Ketchikan, Alaska.  The  five crew abandoned into the vessel’s life raft and were rescued by the fishing vessel Time Bandit.
