The ro-ro ferry St. John became disabled on the Mississippi River while approaching the pier at Chalmette, Louisiana.  The ferry had difficulty maintaining power while crossing the Mississippi with the engine stopping several times.  As the ferry approached the dock, it’s engines failed allowing the ferry to strike a barge moored at the dock.  No reports of injuries, but several passengers were shaken up by the incident.   The St. John was pulled from service while the Coast Guard investigates the incident.
