On September 5, the 141 meter long, 5600 dwt tanker Maia (IMO: 9417050) collided with the 112 meter long, 3332 dwt cargo vessel Phrygia (IMO: 8842583) on the Don River near Azov, Russia. The two vessels were passing on the river when they collided.  Both the Maia and Phrygia sustained some mechanical damage, but there were no injuries or pollution released. The two vessels will be inspected by authorities. An investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the incident.

On January 5, the 41 meter long 194 dwt ro-ro cargo vessel Grigory Lovtsov became stuck in ice in the Sea of Okhotsk off the Shantar Islands. The Grigory Lovtsov sent out a distress call that it was trapped in the ice and was risk of ice damaging the hull. Authorities dispatched a Mi-8 helicopter from Khabarovsk to assist the vessel. The helicopter arrived on scene and was able to safely rescue all 8 of the crew. They were taken to Nikolaevsk-on-Amur. No reports of injuries.

On July 9, the 50 meter long offshore supply vessel Brompton Sun caught fire in Sea of Okhotsk off Sakhalin Island, Russia.  The Brompton Sun was en route to an oil rig with 42 passengers when the fire started in the engine room. The crew was able to extinguish the blaze, but the supply vessel had sustained damage. The offshore supply vessel Katun arrived on scene and the passengers were safely transferred off the Brompston Sun. No report of injuries. The Brompton Sun returned back to port under its own power.
