The 176 meter long, 6124 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Mazovia caught fire in Ystad, Sweden. The Mazovia was preparing to depart for a voyage to Swinoujscie, Poland when a fire broke out in the engine room. The fire started with one of the generators and the crew was able to extinguish the blaze quickly.  No injuries reported.  The crew attempted to repair the generator, but were unable to fix the issue allowing the ferry to pass inspection. Reports state the passengers later disembarked and had to find alternative transportation.

On November 6, the 16 meter long survey vessel Lotty ran aground on the rocks in Örefjärden near Nordmaling, Sweden.  Authorities dispatched aircraft to the scene and found a sheen of pollution around the grounded vessel. Two vessels were dispatched to the scene. One laid out booms around the Lotty while the other began to removal of the remaining fuel on board the Lotty.  Initial investigations found some 350 litres of diesel fuel had been released. No reports of injuries.  Reports state the Lotty will be salvaged.

On August 9, the 82 meter long  cargo vessel Kelt ran aground on Siamaa Lake off Lappeenranta, Sweden. The Kelt was en route to Likoseenlahti from Vyborg when the cargo vessel suffered a power blackout.  The blackout was caused by a monitoring system on the cooling water tank.  No reports of injuries.  Divers inspected the hull for damage before it was refloated. The hull was found to suffered only minor dents and the Kelt was allowed to proceed on its voyage.
