Jesse G

The 42 foot fishing vessel Jesse G capsized off Cape Beale, Vancouver Island, Canada.   The vessel got caught in moderate winds and an opposing tide causing it to capsize.  The crew were able to make a distress call before the six persons on board were tossed into the water.   The men clung onto the overturn hull awaiting rescue.  The Canadian Coast Guard responded within the hour dispatching a rescue boat to the scene.   All six men were pulled out of the water safely.  One crew reported slight injuries.   Authorities later placed booms around the vessel to contain any pollution released.

Horizon Tacoma

Horizon Tacoma

The 217 meter long, 20668 dwt container ship Horizon Tacoma became disabled off Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.  The Horizon Tacoma lost propulsion and was dropped anchor until the crew was able to complete temporary repairs.  Several tugs were sent to provide assistance as the Horizon Tacoma proceeded to Puget Sound.   Coast Guard Inspectors are conducting an investigation into the cause of the incident.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

BC Ferries Allision #2

The ferry Coastal Celebration had to be taken out of service after the vessel  allided with the dock at Swartz Bay, Vancouver Island.   The Coastal Celebration was departing the dock when  it reversed and slammed into the dock hard.   The ferry suffered damage to the bow doors and ramp and the dock also sustained some damage.  Earilier in the week, another BC Ferry, the MV Mill Bay, allided with the dock resulting in hull holed above the water line.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
