Cap Lizard aground

Cap Lizard aground

The 17 meter long trawler Cap Lizard went aground on the small island of Burhou which is part of theChannel Islands.  The master of the Cap Lizard had sent out a mayday call and the lifeboat was able to reach the scene.   All the crew on board were rescued with only one man required medical help.   The Cap Lizard floated free the next high tide and was towed back to Cherbourg, France.   Luckily, there were no reports of pollution being released.   Burhou island is a recognized Ramsar site which contains wetlands of international importance.
