Hot in the hold

The 88 meter long, 4161 dwt freighter Lady Irina sailing off the coast of Rolvsøya, Norway contacted authorities that it detected an increase temperature in the hold carrying a cargo of wood chips.   The Lady Irina was directed to Hammerfest where it was met by the local fire departments.   The fire department worked on board for several hours.    No reports of injuries.     No details reported to damage or the problems on board the vessel.

Allision at Lingen-Biene

The 86 meter long inland tanker Anclajo allided with a bridge over the Dortmund-Ems Canal between Lingen and Biene, Germany.  The wheelhouse of the Anclajo was torn off while the bridge suffered no damage.   The Anclajo was adrift for a short time until it could be moored at a nearby quay.   The master of the Anclajo reported that heavy fog had prevented him from seeing the bridge until it was too late to lower the wheelhouse.   Damage to the Anclajo has been assessed at 100.000 Euros.  No reports of injuries.

Collision on the Kiel Canal

Collision on the Kiel Canal

The 69 meter long, 1340 dwt tanker Jana collided with the 139 meter long, 13059 dwt boxship Herm Kiepe on the Kiel canal near Schulp bei Rendsburg, Germany.   The Jana had suffered rudder failure and struck the Herm Kiepe.   The Jana suffered significant damage while the the Herm Kiepe suffered only slight damage.   The Jana was en-route to Brunsbuttel from Rostock with 1000 tons of bio diesel while the Herm Kiepe was heading for Aarhus.   No reports of injuries.
