Ben

The 110 meter long self-propelled tanker barge Ben allided with a bridge on the Ijssel near Zutphen, Netherlands.   The Ben was passing underneath a railway bridge when it’s wheelhouse struck the bridge.   The wheelhouse was destroyed and the bridge suffered some damage.   Rail traffic was halted on the bridge was halted until further inspection could be made.   The master of the vessel suffered minor injuries while no pollution was released.   The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

The 75 foot pilot vessel Sabine Pilot II went aground near Sabine Jetties, Texas.   The vessel struck the rocks near the jetties, but no reports of damage.   Two of the three crew on board suffered minor injuries.   The Coast Guard dispatched a fast-response vessel to the scene.   A barge arrived a short time later to begin salvage operations.  No reports of any pollution released.

The 45 foot long fishing vessel Foxy Lady II was reported missing off the coast of Massachusetts.   The fishing vessel was scheduled to be out for a day trip and was  last reported off Provincetown.   The following day the Foxy Lady II was reported overdue to the Coast Guard.    The Coast Guard began a search and rescue operation with helicopter and rescue craft.   The search was suspended as bad weather moved into the area.    The Foxy Lady II was reported to have two crewmen on board.
