The 80 foot long fishing vessel Megan-Marie became disabled in 10 foot seas while off Nantucket, Massachusetts.  The vessel had suffered water ingress when a small leak in the hull under the main engine.   The Megan-Marie’s pump were unable to control the flooding and the vessel began to sink.  The five crew sent out a distress call to the Coast Guard.  The Coast Guard dispatched an aircraft to the scene which was able to drop additional pumps to the Megan-Marie.   The crew installed the pumps and began to de-water the vessel.  The crew was able to patch the hull and proceeded back to port at New Bedford, Massachusetts. escorted by two Coast Guard cutters.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Galveston Collision

Galveston Collision

Two chemical tankers collided in the Gulf of Mexico near Galveston, Texas.  The 116 meter long, 11642 dwt chemical tanker Chem Sea and the 170 meter long, 33641 dwt tanker Bow Kiso collided while headed to Houston.  The Bow Kiso suffered damage resulting in a fuel leak.   The crew was able to make patch the leak and pump remaining fuel into an auxiliary tank.  No reports of injuries.  Both vessels were able to proceed to Houston under their own power.  The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.

The 267 meter long, 52089 dwt container ship Bangkok Bridge became disabled in the Unimak Pass near Unalaska, Alasaka.  The vessel had lost power when its engines failed and was adrift.   The crew was able to restart the engines and proceeded to Summer Bay off Unalaska for repairs.   The Coast Guard has ordered the vessel to remain at anchor until the repairs can be inspected.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.   The Bangkok Bridge had departed from Shanghai bound for Long Beach, California.
