The 82 meter long, 1900 dwt freighter FB Glory allided with a moored barge at Papenburg, Germany. The FB Glory was departing from Papenburg when it suffered engine failure while moving astern.  The freighter drifted into it struck a barge moored alongside the quay.  Both vessels suffered only slight damage.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  The water police launched an investigation into the incident.  The FB Glory was allowed to proceed on its voyage to Cuxhaven.

Golden Miller

The 145 meter long LPG tanker Golden Miller suffered explosion while berthed at Aratú, Brazil.  The Golden Miller was loading 5,800 tons of propane gas when a compressor failed causing the explosion and resulting fire.  A large plume of black smoke covered the vessel.  The local fire brigade responded and was able to bring the fire under control aided by six tugs equipped with water cannons. Two crewmen of 22 crew members on board suffered minor injuries.  Authorities placed oil boom around the vessel as oil pollution was released.  Reports states nearby residents report a strong smell of fuel in the area.

Adventure aground

The 23 meter long passenger ferry Adventure ran aground near Battery Island, North Carolina.  The ferry was on its regular run between Southport and Bald Head with 31 passengers when it struck a sandbar.  Some 13 passengers were injured with 3 suffering moderate to severe injuries.  The vessel requested assistance with the 47-foot motor life boat and 25 foot response boat from the Oak Island Coast Guard Station responding.  The Coast Guard boats were able to transfer the injured passengers off the ferry and transport them to the nearby marina.  The remaining passengers were taken ashore with the assistance of other rescue vessels and the Bald Head Island Ferry Ranger.  No reports of pollution released.  A tug was requested to help refloat the Advernture.  The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.
