Fosenbulk
The 60 meter long, 965 dwt cargo ship Fosenbulk became disabled off Flatanger, Norway after suffering a power outage. The vessel’s main engine had failed while in heavy seas and high winds. The crew immediately dropped anchor to keep the vessel from being blown on to shallows. The crew alerted authorities as they feared the anchor chain could break. A lifeboat was dispatched to the scene along with a Sea King helicopter. The helicopter was able to airlift the 4 crewmen to safety.
The Coast Guard vessel Harstad arrived later and was able to connect a towline to the Fosenbulk. The vessels proceeded to Namsos. No reports of injuries. The Fosenbulk was loaded with foundry sand bound for Rissa.
