The 270 meter long,  53540 dwt container ship MSC Kyoto went aground in the Mobile Ship Channel near Mobile, Alabama. The MSC Kyoto had suffered steering failure and went out of the channel fairway between buoys 36 and 38.  The boxship was refloated later the same day on the rising tide with the assistance of two tugs.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.  The MSC Kyoto was en route from Tampa to Mobile.
