The 21 meter long fishing vessel Sjohav ran aground near Valsøya, Norway. The crew sent out a distress call requesting assistance after the vessel was hard aground on a reef.  A Sea King helicopter was dispatched to the scene with dewatering pumps, but the vessel did not require any additional pumps.  The Sjohav had suffered a hole in the hull, but was in no risk of sinking.   The Sjohav was refloated a short time later with the aid of nearby vessels.  The Sjohav was taken under tow to Tranøya.  No reports of injuries to the 5 crew on board.

Reports state a  tugboat was stolen from its berth in East Providence, Rhode Island. The tug was spotted a short time later stranded on a sandbar near Sabin Point.  The tugboat had two men on board and the vessel was suffering water ingress.  Authorities arrived to find the tugboat abandoned.   Booms were placed around the vessel as a preventive measure.  A reward was offered for information on the theft of the vessel.

La Mattanza

The 110 meter long self-propelled barge La Mattanza went aground under the Ijssel Bridge at Zutphen, Netherlands. The barge was proceeding under the bridge with a heavy load of stones when it grounded.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The La Mattanza was later refloated later the same day aided by  another barge. Reports state the cause of the grounding was due to the low water level at the time.
