The 110 meter long self-propelled barge Elisabeth Jeagers allided with a bridge on the Neckar River near Mannheim, Germany. The Elisabeth Jeagers with 1000 tonnes of cargo was headed to Ladenburg when the barge was passing under the Lauffener Bridge. The master of the vessel failed to lower the wheelhouse enough and struck the bridge.  The wheelhouse was torn free and sank in the river.  No one was injured and no pollution was released. Authorities halted traffic while authorities inspected the bridge. Divers were requested and salvaged the wheelhouse later the same day.

The 55 meter long, 100 dwt passenger catamaran ferry Flying Cat 4 ran aground near Tinos, Greece.  The high speed ferry with 239 passengers and 14 crew departed from Rafina bound for Santorini. When the ferry reached just outside of Tinos, the vessel ran aground in the dense fog. No reports of injuries.  Local fishing vessels came to the assistance and helped evacuate passengers off the ferry. A tug was requested to refloat the vessel.
