On October 24, the 18 meter long fishing vessel Johannes Dirk – DK17  became disabled off Lauwersoog, Netherlands. The trawler had gotten its propeller fouled by a fishing net and went adrift. The crew requested assistance with the nearby fishing vessel Vier Gebroeder arriving on scene. The Vier Gebroeder began to tow the Johannes Dirk through the Wesgat when the KNRM lifeboat arrived and took over the tow. The lifeboat safely towed the Johannes Dirk to Lauwersoog. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
