The 25 meter long towboat Karibu O 01 allided with a gate on the Havel-Oder Canal near Eberswalde, Germany. The towboat was headed for Berlin with barges loaded with pig iron when it struck the gate.  The Karibu O 01 had its wheelhouse torn off and two men onboard sustained slight injuries. Both were taken to hospital for treatment. The local fire brigade arrived on scene and placed around the towboat. Hydraulic lines from the towboat had been severed and some pollution was around the vessel.  The water gate sustained significant damage and traffic was halted.  The water police detained the Karibu 0 01 until it completed an investigation into the incident.

The 60 meter long research vessel Geos caught fire off Kuala Baram, Malaysia. The fire started after an explosion in the engine room while doing offshore oil exploration. The fire quickly engulfed the research vessel forcing the crew to jump overboard into the sea. Authorities were alerted and quickly launched a search and rescue operation. Rescuers arrived on scene all pulled 37 of the 38 crew to safety. Two crew sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. One crew person was reported as missing.

Several tugs arrived a short time later and began to extinguish the blaze on the Geos. The tugs were able to contain the fire, but reports state there were several areas within the superstructure still on fire.  Fire crews were expected to board the vessel and continue to extinguish the blaze.  Reports state the owner and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

On April 15, the 75 meter long bulk carrier Royal 09 allided with a bridge on the Đồng Nai River in Bien Hoa City, Vietnam. The Royal 09 had been at anchor when a technical fault cause the vessel to break free from its anchor. Being pushed by the rising tide and strong winds, the Royal 09 drifted upstream and struck the Đồng Nai Bridge. The bulk carrier became wedged against the bridge until three tugs were able to pull the vessel free.  The Đồng Nai Bridge sustained only minor damage and traffic resumed a short time later. No reports of injuries to the 9 crew on board. No further details reported.
