Ai Qi Shun Abandoned

The 7704 dwt freighter Ai Qi Shun went onto the rocks off Petropavlovskiy Light, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, Russia.   The Ai Qi Shun suffered significant damage.   The engine room and hold No. 1 are flooded by a hole in the hull.   The vessel is listing to starboard.    The Ai Qi Shun was carrying a cargo of 5232 metric tons of construction materials and 210 metric tons of fuel in its tanks.    Reports state the crew has abandoned the vessel and some oil pollution released resulting in a 300 meter oil slick.

Allision at Lingen-Biene

The 86 meter long inland tanker Anclajo allided with a bridge over the Dortmund-Ems Canal between Lingen and Biene, Germany.  The wheelhouse of the Anclajo was torn off while the bridge suffered no damage.   The Anclajo was adrift for a short time until it could be moored at a nearby quay.   The master of the Anclajo reported that heavy fog had prevented him from seeing the bridge until it was too late to lower the wheelhouse.   Damage to the Anclajo has been assessed at 100.000 Euros.  No reports of injuries.

Allision Twice in Kiel Canal

The 73 meter long, 2775 dwt freighter Solveig K allided with the Holtenau Lock on the Kiel Canal.   The freighter suffered bow damage as it struck the lock wall.   When the investigators boarded the vessel, they found the master intoxicated.  The pilot was located in the engine room.   The freighter had lost its stearing gear and the pilot had to issue commands in the engine room.

With the first mate placed  in command, the Solveig K was ordered to berth at the Voith Quay where further questioning would be conducted.  When the Solveig K tried to berth, the main engine failed allowing the freighter to drift into the emergency floodgate.   The floodgate broke loose and suffered severe damage.   A tug was called in and pushed the Solveig K to the quay.

Reports state the master of the Solveig K was replaced and was allowed to resume its voyage to Ghent.
