Kay L

The 84 meter long, 1537 dwt freighter Kay  L became disabled after suffering engine failure while passing through the Dardanelles.   Authorities dispatched tugs to the scene who took the freighter under tow to a safe anchorage.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.   The Kay L was en route in ballast to Varna from Limassol.

The 13.5 meter long  fishing vessel KCee sank off Secretary Island, New Zealand.   The vessel last reported it was bound for Blanket Bay with two men on board.   No additional communication came from the vessel until the emergency beacon was activated.   Authorities dispatched multiple helicopters while local fishing vessels assisted in searching for the two men.  During the search, the part of the bow of the KCee was discovered.  Later, the hull was found partially submerged near the island.   The hull was heavily damaged and shows sign that it had struck an object or grounded.   No further details reported.

The 18 meter long towboat Katherine G capsized at Liberty Island, New York.  The towboat was preparing to hoist an item off the island with its crane  when it tipped and capsized to port.  The three people on board were able to escape.  Two were pulled from the water and taken to hospital for minor injuries.
