Tanker Alisa disabled

Tanker Alisa disabled

January 1, 2011 Paul Hancock

The 2174 dwt tanker Alisa becamed disabled off Vanino, Russia in the Sea of Japan. The Alisa’s engine and generator overheated when the cooling system failed. Tugs from Vanino were unable to connect a towline due to the bad weather and icing. The tanker was able to run engine for short periods to avoid drifting. Reports state a salvage vessel had offer to tow the tanker, but the master declined.
