The 6726 dwt ferry Stena Scanrail made a hard landing at Frederikshavn, Denmark. The ferry allided with the quay with enough force to suffer two holes in the hull. The holes were above the waterline and were quickly repaired by welding steel plates over the holes. The Stena Scanrail was allowed to proceed to Gothenburg. No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
The 14 meter long fishing vessel Moorea Ravaai IV was reported disabled and adrift near the island of Makatea, French Polynesia (15 52S 149 00W). The Moorea Ravaai IV had suffered engine failure and has requested assistance. No further details reported.
The 89 meter long, 4477 dwt freighter Cembay had a fire on deck while unloading cargo at Chatham Docks, England. The fire was started by a broken fuel line of a generator being used to pump cement off the vessel. This spread to a fuel container on top of the deck of the Cembay. The crew initially attempted to put out the fire themselves, but it required thirty local firefighters to extinguish the blaze. The firefighters were able to isolate the fuel and douse the flames using a special foam. Damage to the vessel was not reported, but the Cembay left Chatham bound for Le Havre. No one was reported injured.
