Oorkaten Fire

The 29 meter long ferry Oortkaten suffered a fire in the engine room while berthed at a pier in Hamburg, Germany.   The local fire brigade was called out who were able to extinguish the fire.   Reports state the fire was caused by faulty wiring.  No passengers were on board at the time of the fire.

Volgoneft 215 Allision

The 4,500 dwt motor tanker Volgoneft 215 allided with Lock Number 4 on the Volgo-Baltic Canal, Russia.  The Volgoneft 215 had left Yaroslavl bound for St. Petersburg with 4633 metric tons of heavy oil.   The lock suffered damage while the tanker was holed on the port bow above the waterline.  However, the tanker tanks were not damage and no pollution was released.   The Volgoneft 215 proceed under its own power to Belousovskoye Basin for inspection.
