CSL Elbe Disabled
The 10,110 dwt bulk freighter CSL Elbe became disabled in the Nærøy Strait near Rørvik, Norway. The CSL Elbe had to shut down it’s main engine after a fuel pipe had ruptured. The pilot on board requested assistance with the rescue vessels Harald V and the Norway Coast Guard vessel Njord responding. The rescue vessels kept the CSL Elbe in position while the crew performed repairs. A few hours later, the CSL Elbe was able to proceed under its own power. The rescue vessel Harald V suffered minor damage to its stern during the incident. No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
