Arco Dee Allides at Littlehampton

The 225-foot long, 1309 dwt motor vessel Arco Dee allided with the harbour walls at Littlehampton, England.   The vessel had been blown off course by strong winds as it entered the harbour causing it to strike the harbour walls.   Both the Arco Dee and concrete wall suffered minor damage.  No one was injured.   The Arco Dee was entering the harbour for routine maintenance.  Officals stated that limits were placed for entry to the harbour in weather with strong winds especially those who are sailing in ballast only.

Tanker Strikes Cruise Ship

The 4,739 dwt bunker tanker Gazpromneft Nord struck the moored 289 meter long, 113,000 gt cruise ship Emerald Princess at Berth 6 of the harbour of St. Petersburg, Russia.  The tanker cause damage to the starboard side of the Emerald Princess with 2 lifeboats damaged, davits, a life raft, and a workboat fell overboard.  The Gazpromneft Nord suffered dents to the hull.    No injuries or pollution was released.   A survey of damage is being conducted by the Lloyds’s office.

Stena Scanrail Allision

Stena Scanrail Allision

The 6726 dwt ferry Stena Scanrail made a hard landing at Frederikshavn, Denmark.  The ferry allided with the quay with enough force to suffer two holes in the hull.   The holes were above the waterline and were quickly repaired by welding steel plates over the holes.  The Stena Scanrail was allowed to proceed to Gothenburg.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
