Train Disabled by Barge Strike

The 65 meter long barge Parmelia I forced train service to stop in Fremantle, Australia.   The barge  had allided with multiple pylons of the Fremantle rail bridge causing damage to a overhead power supply mast for the train line.  The Parmelia I also suffered minor hull damage, but no reports of pollution being released.    The Parmelia I is typically used to refuel other vessels while in port.  Authorities will be conducting an investigation into the incident.

Flottbek Aground

Flottbek Aground

The 15933 dwt boxship Flottbek had left Hamburg bound for Klaipeda when it went aground on the Elbe River near Lühe Sand, Germany.   The vessel was refloated later that day and proceeded back to Hamburg to be inspected. No reports of damage or pollution being release.  The Flottbek proceed the next day for Klaipeda.

Decommissioned Navy Ship Sinks

The former Brasilian Navy vessel Ary Parreiras G21 sank off the south coast of Peloponnese, Greece.   The naval vessel was under tow of the tug Istan Bull when it started to take on water.   The water ingress could not be stopped and the Ary Parreiras G21 sank.   The condition of the vessel was poor as it was being taken to the shipbreakers in Turkey.  No reports of injuries.
