Josias Aground

The 52 foot wooden fishing vessel Josias went aground at the entrance to Chetco River near Brookings, Oregon.   The Coast Guard responded with the 47 foot motor lifeboat, but the lifeboat was unable to get close enough to reach the Josias.  The Coast Guard went back to the station and returned with the 25 foot response boat which was able to reach the Josias.  All three people on board were rescued and taken back to the station.  No injuries reported.  A containment boom has been placed around the vessel to prevent pollution being released.  The Coast Guard is conducting an investigation into the incident.
