Kate Aground

Kate Aground

August 23, 2011 Paul Hancock

The fishing vessel Kate went aground off the shore of Kaltene, Latvia.   The crew of the Kate were rescued by the Latvian patrol vessel Skrunda.   Another vessel has been assigned to monitor the Kate for any possible release of pollution.   The Kate had nine tons of diesel fuel on board when it went ashore.   Local and state authorities have been involved to prevent any pollution releases.   No reports of injuries.
