Begey Aground

The 86 meter long, 1649 dwt freighter Begey loaded with 1587 metric tons of general cargo went aground on the Volga Caspian Sea Canal near the 153.5 kilometer mark.   The freighter was later refloated the same day by the icebreaker Kapitan Bukaev.  The Begey proceeded to Olya for to be surveyed for any damage.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.  The grounding was due to ice shove.
