West Oder 1

The 68 meter long self-propelled barge West Oder 1 allided with the pier at Brake, Germany.   The barge was attempting to berth when it struck the wooden pier causing damage to the pier and the vessel’s bow.  No reports of injuries.   The water police conducted an investigation and found the master of the West Oder 1 did not hold a certificate for sailing on the inland waterways and the vessel lacked the proper paperwork as well.   Reports state the master of the West Oder 1 will face prosecution.

Jaguar

Jaguar

The 190 meter long, 14643 dwt container ship Jaguar became disabled near Thessaloniki, Greece.   The Jaguar had left Thessaloniki when it suffered engine failure.   The vessel returned to Thessaloniki where it made repairs and inspected by authorities.   The Jaguar departed the next day and continued on its voyage to Piraeus.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Raidawn

The 49 foot long fishing vessel Raidawn was ran ashore in Main Bay, Prince William Sound.   The Raidawn had struck a rock in the bay resulting in holing the hull and water ingress.  The crew requested assistance from the Coast Guard while another fishing vessel assisted in towing the Raidawn to shore.  The Coast Guard dispatched a helicopter to the scene which spotted an oil sheen around the Raidawn.   The vessel had some 3,200 gallons of diesel on board at the time of the grounding.   No reports of injuries.   Authorities have personnel on site to monitor any further release of pollution.   The owner of the  Raidawn was issued an order to remove the remaining fuel and make temporary repairs before towing the fishing vessel back into the water.
