Ebba Brahe

Ebba Brahe

The 41 meter long ferry Ebba Brahe allided with the dock at Gränna, Sweden on Lake Vättern.   The Ebba Brahe had departed from Visingsö with 199 passengers and 22 vehicles and was attempting to berth when it struck the stone pier.   Several passengers were thrown overboard along with several vehicles pushed into each other.   Five injured passengers were taken to the local hospital.  The Ebba Brahe’s bow suffered dents in the bow and  twelve vehicles sustained damage.  Reports state the ferry was approaching the dock at a higher speed than normal due to a fire truck being transported to a fire when a technical fault prevented the ferry from slowing down.   The Ebba Brahe has been taken out of service while authorities conduct an investigation.
