The 85 meter long self-propelled barge Hamburg allided with the 74 meter long self-propelled barge Gramper on the Danube River at the Kachlet Lock near Passau, Germany.  The Hamburg struck into the Gramper’s stern causing damage to the Gramper’s rudder.   Reports state the damage to the rudder was around 25,000 euros.  One deckhand on the Gramper was injured when a mooring line snapped.  No reports of pollution being released.   Both vessels were towed to Passau where the water police have launched an investigation into the incident.  Reports state the Hamburg was moving slowly and in ballast which kept damage to a minimum.
