JAKE VINCENT DOS

The 1600 dwt freighter Jake Vincent Dos went aground on Bohol Sea near Bohol Island, Philippines.  The freighter suffered hull damage, but the crew was able to make temporary repairs.  Initial attempts to refloat the vessel failed.   Owners of the vessel dispatched another freighter to the scene to help lighter the cargo of corn and rice off the Jake Vincent Dos. No reports of injuries or pollution released.  Reports state the cause of the grounding was due to a GPS malfunction.

Collision off Shikoku

Collision off Shikoku

SAFMARINE_MAKUTU

The 292 meter long, 61407 dwt container ship Safmarine Makutu collided with the 110 meter long, 6572 dwt freighter Pices off the island of Shikoku, Japan.  Neither vessel sustained any damage and were able to proceed on to their destinations. No reports of injuries on either vessel.  The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
