The pilot boat Taybird from Dundee, Scotland caught fire while escorting a vessel up the River Tay.  The pilot boat was assisting the 118 meter long tanker Pandion when a fire broke out in the pilot boat’s engine room.  The  2 men on board the Taybird requested assistance as the fire disabled the vessel’s engine.  The Broughty Ferry RNLI responded sending two lifeboats to the scene.  The lifeboats were able to evacuate the 2 men from the pilot boat and extinguish the fire.  The Taybird was taken under tow and escorted back to Dundee.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.
