The 158 foot long schooner Clipper City ran aground in New York Harbor near Liberty Island. The Clipper City had departed from lower Manhattan with 121 passengers on a day cruise when the top-sailed schooner ran onto a shoal near the island. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The passengers were transferred off the vessel safely. The Clipper City was taken under tow by a tug and returned to port on the following high tide. The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.
